Launch of the "Joy of Fasting People 2" project in Al-Ahsa to distribute 70,000 meals

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Al-Ahsa, Mr. Muath bin Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, inaugurated the second edition of the "Joy of Fasting 2" project today, Tuesday, at his office in the Governorate headquarters. This project is being implemented by the Sanad Association for Social Responsibility in Al-Ahsa, in strategic partnership with King Faisal University, as part of its community initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan.

Strategic goals to reduce accidents

The launch of this project comes in response to a pressing community need: enhancing road safety during the peak hours leading up to Iftar (the breaking of the fast). General statistics and road behavior during Ramadan indicate increased speeding and reckless driving among some motorists trying to reach their destinations before Iftar, which can lead to tragic traffic accidents. This underscores the importance of the "Joy of Fasting" project, which aims to distribute light Iftar meals at major traffic lights and intersections, helping to calm drivers, reduce traffic congestion, and ultimately lower the accident rate and protect lives and property.

70,000 meals and a new humanitarian route

His Excellency the Deputy Governor reviewed the operational plan for the project, which in its current iteration aims to distribute more than 70,000 iftar meals throughout the holy month. In its second year, the project has expanded beyond drivers, adding a "humanitarian route" specifically targeting those accompanying patients in hospital emergency departments. This initiative embodies the values of social solidarity, as the association provides moral and nutritional support to those who find themselves at hospitals during iftar time, reflecting the deep bonds within Saudi society.

Supporting leadership and keeping pace with Vision 2030

During the launch, Professor Muath Al-Jaafari emphasized that this project is receiving direct oversight from His Highness the Governor of Al-Ahsa, noting that His Highness's support for such initiatives stems from the wise leadership's commitment to enhancing quality of life and human well-being. Al-Jaafari added that the integrated efforts of the government sector, the non-profit sector (represented by the Sanad Association), and the academic sector (represented by King Faisal University) serve as a prime example of achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to reach one million volunteers and increase the non-profit sector's contribution to the GDP.

High safety standards for volunteers

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Eid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sanad Association, explained that the project adheres to the highest safety standards for volunteers participating in the field distribution. He noted that volunteers have been trained and that safe distribution points have been selected to ensure smooth traffic flow. Saud Al-Shuaibi, the project's General Supervisor, confirmed that all organizational and field preparations are complete, guaranteeing the initiative's efficient implementation and the achievement of its humanitarian and preventative goals. He expressed his gratitude to all partners and those who have contributed to the success of this institutional charitable endeavor.
