Kuwaiti Ambassador: Our relations with Saudi Arabia are like one family and share a common destiny

The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Sabah Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, affirmed that the relations that unite the two brotherly countries transcend traditional diplomatic concepts to reach the level of “one family”, stressing the exceptional attention that the Kuwaiti political leadership, represented by His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, pays to strengthening these historical ties.
Solidarity during holidays and difficult times
This came during a press statement on the occasion of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Riyadh's celebration of the 65th National Day and the 35th anniversary of Liberation Day. The ambassador explained that the coincidence of these celebrations with Saudi Arabia's "Founding Day" on February 22nd adds a special dimension of shared joy, as the happiness of the two peoples converges in a scene that embodies their unity of purpose and destiny. He noted that what brings pride to the Kingdom is also a source of pride for Kuwait, and that Kuwait's celebrations resonate spontaneously in every Saudi home.
Historical depth and deep roots
These statements gain particular significance when considering the historical context of Kuwaiti-Saudi relations, which span more than a century. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been Kuwait's strategic depth and primary support during its darkest hours. Perhaps the most prominent testament to the strength of this relationship, cemented by blood and honorable stances, is the historic and heroic Saudi position during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, including the reception of the Kuwaiti leadership and people, and the leadership of the coalition that liberated Kuwait. This explains Kuwait's consistent celebration of Saudi national occasions as if they were purely Kuwaiti events.
A strategic partnership for the future of the region
Regionally, relations between the two countries extend beyond emotional and social ties, forming a cornerstone of stability for the Gulf Cooperation Council and the wider Arab region. The two leaderships are currently working, through the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council, to propel economic, political, and security cooperation to unprecedented levels, serving the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and Kuwait's development vision. This integration reflects a deep understanding that regional and international challenges necessitate continuous coordination and a unified stance, a point emphasized by the Ambassador, who described the relationship as being founded on solid principles of brotherhood and shared destiny.
Sheikh Sabah Nasser Al-Sabah concluded his statement by extending his warmest congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman - may God protect them - and to the brotherly Saudi people, wishing the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity.
