King Salman Center sponsors treatment for a Gazan girl with cancer in Jordan
As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the brotherly Palestinian people, and in embodiment of the values of giving and Arab solidarity, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid an urgent humanitarian step by sponsoring the treatment of the Palestinian girl “Rosa Bahaa Al-Din Al-Drimli”, who came from the Gaza Strip and is 11 years old, and who is suffering from a serious brain cancer infection.
Urgent medical response to a complex case
The center's swift response was prompted by the critical and complex health condition of the child, Rosa. Medical diagnoses revealed her urgent need for advanced treatment protocols and precise interventions to address the spread of tumor cells to sensitive areas at the base of her brain. Given the tragic circumstances in the Gaza Strip, and the near-total collapse of the healthcare system and hospital infrastructure, providing her with the necessary care within the Strip was impossible, necessitating immediate external intervention to save her life.
Specialized care at the King Hussein Cancer Center
Coordination was made through official channels to transfer the child to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where her condition stabilized at the King Hussein Cancer Center , a leading medical institution in the region. The child is currently under intensive clinical monitoring and undergoing regular, thorough examinations by a team of consultants specializing in pediatric brain tumors. This is to assess the tumor's response to treatment and ensure control of the condition, thus preventing any neurological or visual complications that might arise from the tumor's sensitive location.
Strategic partnership for treating Gaza patients
This initiative comes as an implementation of the joint agreement signed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center in July 2024. This strategic agreement aims to unify efforts to treat cancer patients from the Gaza Strip in Jordan and is considered a model of integrated humanitarian work, as the Kingdom covers the treatment costs to ensure that Palestinian patients receive the best possible medical care under the current circumstances.
A long history of Saudi aid to Palestine
This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a long history of Saudi support for the Palestinian cause. Since the outbreak of the latest crisis, Saudi Arabia has established massive air and sea relief bridges, in addition to launching a public campaign through the "Sahem" platform to aid the Palestinian people in Gaza. This aid includes food, shelter, medical supplies, and ambulances, reflecting the Kingdom's historical and unwavering commitment to standing with the Palestinians in various hardships and crises, and alleviating their suffering in every way possible.
The family of the child "Rosa" appreciated this generous humanitarian gesture, stressing that the speed of response and transfer of their daughter to receive treatment restored their hope in life, praising the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership in healing the wounds of the Palestinian people.
