King Salman Center treats 1,587 beneficiaries in Hajjah, Yemen

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its pioneering humanitarian efforts in Yemen, with the Emergency Center for Epidemic Disease Control in Hiran District, Hajjah Governorate, providing medical services to 1,587 beneficiaries between December 10 and 16, 2025. This support is part of a comprehensive system of health projects funded and overseen by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.
Details of medical services and statistics
Field reports showed a wide variety of services provided, encompassing different age groups and medical conditions, with the number of beneficiaries distributed as follows:
- The Epidemic Disease Control Clinic: It received the largest number of visitors, with 660 patients, reflecting the importance of the center in combating endemic epidemics.
- Emergency and Children's Clinic: Provided care to 551 children, in light of the urgent need for care for young children in those areas.
- Internal Medicine Clinic: 376 patients benefited from it.
Regarding support services that ensure accurate diagnosis and effective treatment, the laboratory department examined 457 patients, the pharmacy dispensed free medications to 1,541 beneficiaries, and the observation ward admitted 462 patients. The center also adhered to environmental safety standards by implementing four medical waste disposal activities.
The humanitarian context and the Kingdom's leading role
These figures cannot be viewed in isolation from the historical role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen. Since the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in 2015, the Kingdom has prioritized the Yemeni health sector, given the collapse of health infrastructure in many governorates. Hajjah Governorate is of particular importance due to its population density and proximity to border areas, making the continuation of health services there a cornerstone of humanitarian stability.
The importance of combating epidemics and their regional impact
The strategic importance of the Epidemic Disease Control Center in Hiran lies in its crucial preventative role. Yemen faces numerous health challenges related to the spread of diseases such as cholera, malaria, and dengue fever, especially during the rainy season and in areas with stagnant water. Therefore, the presence of a specialized center supported by the Kingdom contributes directly to:
- Early detection: Detecting outbreaks before they spread.
- Relieving the financial burden: Providing free treatment and medicine to families suffering from difficult economic conditions.
- Regional health security: Controlling infectious diseases within hotspots and preventing their spread to wider geographical areas.
This project embodies the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm commitment to the principles of brotherhood and neighborliness, affirming that humanitarian work is a fundamental pillar of its foreign policy, and that Saudi Arabia’s helping hand will remain extended to its brothers in Yemen until they overcome their ordeal and recover.
