King Salman Relief Center signs agreements to rehabilitate schools in Syria

In a new humanitarian initiative reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting those affected in the region, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , represented by its Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs, Engineer Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, signed two cooperation agreements with two civil society organizations. These agreements, signed virtually, aim to rehabilitate two schools and vital community facilities in the Rif Dimashq and Idlib of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Project details and beneficiaries

This initiative is part of the center's ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people. The project to rehabilitate the two schools and community facilities will directly benefit approximately 4,570 individuals , in addition to 23,272 individuals who will indirectly benefit from the improved services. The agreements include the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the damaged buildings, their complete furnishing to make them ready to receive students and community members, and the installation of solar energy to ensure operational sustainability and provide a safe and stable educational and community environment.

These agreements are of paramount importance given the broader context of the protracted Syrian crisis, which has severely damaged much of the country's infrastructure, particularly in the education sector. International reports indicate that the closure of schools in areas such as Idlib and rural Damascus has jeopardized the future of an entire generation of children by depriving them of education.
