King Salman Center supports education in Chad: Aid for 23,000 students

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support vital sectors in brotherly and friendly countries, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid today a joint cooperation agreement with a civil society organization, aimed at supporting and strengthening the education sector in the Republic of Chad, at the center’s headquarters in the capital, Riyadh.
The agreement was signed by the Assistant General Supervisor of the Center for Operations and Programs, Engineer Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz. This step comes in response to the urgent need to support educational infrastructure in areas facing economic and humanitarian challenges, and approximately 23,000 students from displaced groups and the most vulnerable families will benefit from this vital project.
Support details and targeted areas
Under the terms of the signed agreement, the center will work to bridge logistical gaps in the targeted schools by providing essential supplies, including:
- Providing school uniforms for male and female students.
- Providing complete school bags.
- Equipping classrooms with modern school desks.
The project covers a wide geographical area encompassing several vital regions in Chad, namely: the Lake Chad region, the capital N'Djamena, Hadjer-Lamis, Batha, Kanem, Mayo-Kebbi East, and Logone Occidental. This geographical distribution is carefully planned to reach the areas with the highest concentrations of internally displaced persons and refugees.
Context of the crisis and the importance of Saudi intervention
This agreement is of strategic importance given the regional context of the Republic of Chad, which faces complex challenges due to its geographical location. Areas such as Lake Chad have suffered for years from regional instability that has led to large waves of displacement, placing enormous pressure on infrastructure and basic services, especially overcrowded and under-equipped schools.
The Saudi intervention through the King Salman Relief Center comes to help alleviate the burden on displaced families who may be forced to stop their children’s education due to financial hardship, making the provision of school bags, uniforms and seats a crucial factor in the continuation of the educational process and protecting children from dropping out of school.
The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work
These efforts are part of a series of integrated humanitarian and relief projects undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia around the world. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's role extends beyond providing food and medicine; it also places particular emphasis on the education sector, believing that education is the cornerstone of sustainable development and empowers vulnerable communities to rebuild.
This agreement reflects the Kingdom’s firm commitment to international conventions and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4, which relates to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all, thus confirming its global leadership in the field of humanitarian work without discrimination.
