King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center: Saudi humanitarian achievements lead the world

Coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, observed annually on February 4th, attention turns to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a leading global humanitarian force. The Kingdom translates the values of solidarity and mutual support into tangible reality through its powerful humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. This occasion highlights Riyadh's pivotal role in alleviating the suffering of people and upholding human dignity without discrimination.
A long history of institutional giving
Humanitarian work in the Kingdom is not a recent phenomenon, but rather a deeply rooted principle in its policies since its founding. These efforts culminated in the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in 2015, serving as the unified umbrella organization that efficiently coordinates and directs Saudi aid abroad. Since then, the Center has become a global beacon of hope, with the Kingdom having implemented a total of 8,749 humanitarian and development projects in 175 countries, with a total value exceeding US$145 billion, reflecting a profound moral commitment to the international community.
Record numbers and wide international impact
In undeniable terms, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has implemented 4,183 vital projects in 113 countries since its inception, encompassing the food, health, education, and shelter sectors, with a total value exceeding $8.325 billion. Arab and Islamic countries, such as Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and Somalia, have received a significant share of this aid, which has contributed to saving lives and supporting stability in conflict zones.
This great momentum has placed the Kingdom at the forefront of the humanitarian scene, as it achieved second place globally and first place in the Arab world among countries providing humanitarian and relief aid for the year 2025, according to data from the United Nations Financial Tracking Service (FTS), an achievement that reflects the efficiency of the Saudi response to global crises.
The Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins: A Milestone
Among the most prominent examples of the Kingdom's leadership in the medical and humanitarian fields is the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins. This unique program has successfully performed 67 complex separation surgeries and evaluated 155 cases from 28 countries across five continents since 1990. In recognition of these efforts, the United Nations, at the initiative of Saudi Arabia, designated November 24th as World Conjoined Twins Day, thus immortalizing this Saudi achievement in international memory.
International Awards and Accreditations
As a culmination of this journey, the center has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including the "Global Humanitarian Achievement Award" from the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, and the 2024 Family and Child-Friendly Institutions Award from the League of Arab States, in recognition of its significant support for Palestinian families. The center is also among the first organizations to receive the ISO 8000-1:2022 international certification for data quality, underscoring its commitment to the highest standards of transparency and reliability in its relief work.
