This strategic project aims to support the resilience of farmers and fishermen in five key Yemeni governorates: Marib, Hadramawt, Al Mahrah, Shabwah, and Socotra. The project seeks to contribute effectively to food production and supply to local markets through a comprehensive package of interventions. These interventions include providing essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, equipment, safety gear, fishing boats, veterinary kits, and greenhouses. The program also includes intensive training for beneficiaries on best agricultural and fisheries practices to ensure sustainable production.
Economic dimensions and regional impact of sustainable development
In addition to providing equipment, the project's impact extends to supporting modern irrigation systems by pumping water from wells, establishing drip irrigation networks, and extending water distribution networks. The project also focuses on building agricultural assets by reclaiming land for farmers affected by floods and rehabilitating local markets. To boost income sources, livestock farming is supported through the distribution of goats and beehives, along with the provision of necessary training. This development package directly benefits approximately 3,000 individuals and indirectly benefits 21,000 others.
