King Salman Center rehabilitates Gaza hospitals: Comprehensive medical support
As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian health sector, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center rehabilitated and reopened maternity and surgical wards in several vital hospitals in the Gaza Strip. This initiative comes as an urgent response to the deteriorating health situation and is part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people.
Saving the health system in Gaza
The health sector in Gaza is facing unprecedented challenges due to successive crises, with hospital infrastructure suffering severe damage that has rendered many vital departments inoperable. The intervention of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has been a lifeline for the medical system, with the initiative including the rehabilitation of the Friends of the Patient Charitable Hospital in Gaza City, Al-Khair Hospital, and Al-Awda Hospital. Efforts focused on repairing damaged departments and equipping them with the latest medical equipment and surgical supplies to ensure their full and efficient operation.
Strategic partnership with the United Nations
As a culmination of this significant relief effort, the center inaugurated the Women's and Maternity Clinic at the Friends of the Patient Charitable Society Hospital on June 25, 2025, in strategic partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) . This partnership aims to enhance reproductive health services and ensure that pregnant women and new mothers have access to safe and dignified healthcare, given the population density and resource scarcity plaguing the sector.

This project is of paramount importance given the urgent need for safe childbirth services in Gaza. Previous disruptions to these services posed significant health risks to mothers and newborns. Hospital administrations benefiting from the project confirmed that Saudi support marked a pivotal turning point, alleviating immense pressure on the remaining healthcare facilities and enabling thousands of patients to receive necessary treatment and surgeries that had been postponed.
