As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian health sector, the volunteer medical team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief a new medical milestone in the Gaza Strip. The team successfully performed 50 advanced and specialized orthopedic surgeries at the Arab National Hospital in Gaza, offering a glimmer of hope for the injured and sick amidst the current circumstances.
The medical campaign's efforts extended beyond surgical procedures to include providing specialized medical care and consultations to 402 patients through its orthopedic clinic. These efforts are part of a volunteer orthopedic surgery project running from December 5th to 27th, aimed at providing high-quality healthcare for critical and chronic cases requiring delicate surgical interventions.
The importance of medical intervention in light of the current crisis
This project is of exceptional importance given the deteriorating health situation in the Gaza Strip, where hospitals are under immense pressure and suffering from a severe shortage of specialized medical personnel and surgical supplies. Orthopedic surgery is among the most urgent specialties in conflict zones, as it directly contributes to saving limbs from amputation, treating complex fractures, and rehabilitating the injured to resume their normal lives, thus alleviating the heavy burden on the local health sector.
The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work
This project is an extension of a long series of humanitarian initiatives led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. Since the outbreak of the crisis, the Kingdom, under the directives of its wise leadership, has swiftly established air and sea relief bridges, in addition to supporting Palestinian hospitals with medicines, equipment, and generators. The presence of Saudi medical teams, or those supported by the Center, on the ground reflects their courage and dedication to delivering the Kingdom's humanitarian message, overcoming all logistical and security challenges.
These voluntary medical initiatives affirm the Kingdom’s firm and unwavering commitment to the brotherly Palestinian people, and its tireless efforts to alleviate their humanitarian suffering in every possible way, whether through direct relief support or by strengthening the capabilities of the health system to ensure its continued provision of services to those affected.
