Details of the partnership between the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the World Health Organization

The virtual agreement was signed via video conference between His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization. This vital program aims to improve the health and nutritional situation in Gaza by providing and facilitating nutritional treatment for cases of severe acute malnutrition (SAM), particularly those accompanied by serious medical complications.

Under the agreement, integrated medical kits for the treatment of severe malnutrition (SAM/PED Kits) will be purchased and distributed, along with the provision of basic medical supplies, nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals, special nutritional formulations and intravenous nutrition solutions to various health facilities in the sector.

Expected humanitarian impact and target numbers in the Gaza Strip

This program is expected to directly contribute to saving the lives of thousands of children, women, and other vulnerable groups in the Gaza Strip who are suffering from severe food insecurity. Official estimates indicate that the project will directly target approximately 258,223 individuals, while its indirect positive impact will extend to more than 1,172,467 individuals across the Gaza Strip. This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of the health system in the Gaza Strip to address the acute food crisis and reduce mortality rates resulting from malnutrition.

The historical role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the Palestinian cause

This program cannot be viewed in isolation from the long history of Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for the Palestinian people. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been, and remains, at the forefront of nations supporting Palestinian rights on all political, developmental, and humanitarian levels. This project is part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, launched under the generous directives of the wise leadership to alleviate the daily suffering of Palestinian families and provide them with the necessities for a dignified life amidst these exceptionally difficult circumstances.
