King Salman Clinics in Al-Khokha treated 4,824 beneficiaries in one week

The mobile medical and nutritional clinics of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid continued to provide their free treatment services in Al-Khokha District in Al-Hudaydah Governorate, Yemen, where 4,824 individuals benefited from these services during the period from January 21 to 27, as part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people and support the health sector in the affected areas.

Details of medical and therapeutic services

The clinics witnessed a large turnout from citizens and displaced persons in the district, with services provided across various vital medical specialties. Specifically, the internal medicine clinic received 933 patients, while the emergency clinic provided urgent care to 792 cases. The clinics also paid special attention to the most vulnerable groups, with 289 children visiting the pediatric clinic and 335 patients benefiting from the epidemiology clinic's services, reflecting the clinics' preventative role in combating communicable diseases.

As part of its outreach efforts to remote areas, the mobile medical team provided services to 273 individuals. These services included reproductive healthcare, benefiting 304 people; therapeutic nutrition, which treated 106 patients; immunization, which administered vaccines to 40 individuals; and obstetrics, which attended to 18 women. Surgical services included wound dressings and minor surgeries for 224 individuals. The health education and awareness department focused its efforts on raising community awareness, targeting 1,503 people. Seven medical cases were referred to specialized hospitals for further treatment.

Accompanying services and logistical support

To ensure the continuity of the treatment process, the support departments provided vital services to patients. Laboratory tests were conducted for 1,371 individuals, and free medications were dispensed to 2,638 patients based on their prescriptions. The healthcare department also received 2,152 cases for medical observation and nursing services, administered blood transfusions to 7 beneficiaries, and performed electrocardiograms for 9 patients.

Project importance and humanitarian context

These mobile clinics are of paramount strategic importance in Al-Khawkhah District and Al-Hudaydah Governorate in general, given the dire humanitarian conditions in the region. Al-Khawkhah is a vital hub receiving large numbers of internally displaced persons fleeing conflict zones, placing immense pressure on the already strained healthcare infrastructure. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's intervention aims to bridge this significant gap, providing primary and emergency healthcare to those who lack access to central hospitals or the means to afford treatment.

This project is part of an integrated system of health projects implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Yemen, which aims not only to provide treatment, but also to enhance health security by combating epidemics, supporting maternal and child health, and spreading health awareness to prevent diseases before they occur, which contributes to improving public health indicators in the targeted areas.
