King Salman Center supports Hadramawt Health in combating cholera

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the health sector in Yemen, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center delivered a new shipment of various medical supplies to the Ministry of Public Health and Population office in the Hadramawt coast. This strategic step aims to enhance the preparedness of health facilities and strengthen their capacity for a rapid and effective response to suspected and confirmed cases of cholera.
Emergency Response Project
This aid falls under the "Emergency Cholera Response in Yemen" project, a vital program funded by the center to curb the spread of epidemics. The Secretary-General of the Hadramawt Governorate Local Council, Saleh Aboud Al-Amqi, praised this urgent humanitarian intervention, emphasizing that these shipments are not merely in-kind assistance, but rather a comprehensive support package aimed at containing the epidemic at its source and limiting its spread in the targeted areas, thus strengthening the resilience of the local health system.
Context of the health crisis in Yemen
Yemen has faced severe health challenges for years as a result of the ongoing conflict, which has damaged its water and sanitation infrastructure, creating a breeding ground for waterborne diseases such as cholera. This aid is of paramount importance at this time, as it helps bridge the significant gap in medical supplies and provides the necessary tools for early diagnosis and treatment—a crucial element in preventing individual cases from escalating into widespread epidemics that threaten the lives of thousands.
Project scope and beneficiaries
The center explained that the project is not limited to distributing medications, but also includes comprehensive preventative measures targeting the most affected areas. These measures include deploying specialized medical teams to examine and monitor travelers at vital air and land ports of entry in several governorates, most notably Aden and Hadramawt. The project aims directly to protect and serve approximately 1,153,000 individuals, reflecting the comprehensiveness of its planning and the breadth of its geographical and demographic reach.
The Kingdom's leading role
This support reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, to stand with the brotherly Yemeni people in all circumstances. These initiatives are part of a comprehensive system of health, food, and development projects aimed at alleviating human suffering and ensuring the continued provision of essential services to Yemeni citizens, thus contributing to strengthening health and social stability in the liberated Yemeni governorates.
