King Salman Center launches “Noor Saudi Arabia” and winter clothing drive in Syria

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid , continued its qualitative efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people, through the implementation of a dual package of medical and relief projects that targeted several Syrian governorates, within the framework of the Kingdom’s permanent commitment to supporting the most needy groups in the region.
"Noor Saudi Arabia" program: Restoring hope in Damascus
In a significant medical initiative, the center implemented the "Noor Saudi Arabia Volunteer Program" to combat blindness and its causes in the Syrian capital, Damascus. The campaign ran from January 31 to February 8, 2026, with the participation of a volunteer team of four ophthalmologists.
The medical team achieved tangible results that transformed the lives of hundreds, examining 2,100 beneficiaries and dispensing 451 pairs of eyeglasses for vision correction. The most significant achievement was performing 212 successful cataract surgeries, restoring sight to patients who had been suffering from severe vision impairment.
"Kanaf" Project: Winter warmth for families in need
In parallel with medical efforts, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center intensified its activities to combat the severe cold waves, distributing 866 shopping vouchers as part of its 2026 winter clothing distribution project (Kanaf). These vouchers aim to enable beneficiaries to purchase winter clothing according to their personal preferences and needs from approved stores.
The distribution included diverse geographical areas to ensure that aid reached those who deserved it, as the aid covered the “Kinsaba” and “Salma” centers in Latakia Governorate, the “Kinsaba” and “Busra al-Sham” centers in Daraa Governorate, in addition to the “Kharbat al-Jawz” center in Idlib Governorate, so that 866 individuals benefited from it directly.
The importance of timing and human impact
This aid comes at a critical time, as Syria's healthcare sector faces immense challenges and a shortage of specialized medical equipment. The free surgeries provided by "Noor Saudi Arabia" are a lifeline for many who cannot afford private treatment. Furthermore, the vouchers help preserve the dignity of the beneficiaries by allowing them to choose their own clothing, rather than receiving pre-packaged items that may not fit their sizes or preferences.
These moves reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s steadfast strategy of providing purely humanitarian work, where aid transcends geographical boundaries to reach people in need wherever they may be, thus reinforcing the Kingdom’s leading role as one of the world’s largest donors of humanitarian aid, and confirming the deep fraternal ties that unite the Saudi and Syrian peoples.
