King Salman Center distributes winter clothing vouchers in Syria as part of the Kanf project

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid , continued its tireless efforts to support the brotherly Syrian people, as the center distributed 1,048 shopping vouchers designated for winter clothing in several Syrian regions the day before yesterday.
This distribution came as part of the “Kanaf” winter clothing distribution project for the year 2026, targeting the most needy families in light of the difficult climatic conditions that the region is going through.
Geographical distribution including the most affected areas
The distribution process covered diverse geographical areas to ensure aid reached those in need across various governorates. Vouchers were distributed at the Khirbet al-Jouz center in Idlib , as well as at the Busra al-Sham and Kinsabba centers in Daraa , and the Salma and Kinsabba centers in Latakia . This direct assistance benefited 1,048 individuals from Syrian families, enabling them to purchase winter clothing to protect themselves from the harsh winter cold.
The importance of the “Kanaf” project and the voucher mechanism
The “Kanaf” project is one of the unique projects implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, as it relies on a voucher system instead of direct in-kind distribution in some phases. The importance of this mechanism lies in:
- Beneficiaries are given the freedom to choose what suits them in terms of clothing and sizes, thus preserving their human dignity.
- Stimulating local economic activity in targeted areas through purchasing from approved local stores.
- Meeting the actual needs of families based on their own priorities.
Difficult humanitarian and climatic context
This aid comes at a critical time, as the Levant region, particularly the mountainous and rural areas of Syria, experiences a sharp drop in temperatures during the winter. Displaced and resident families in these areas face immense challenges in securing heating and warm clothing, given the high prices and scarcity of economic resources. These vouchers serve as a lifeline, helping to alleviate the financial burden on families and protecting children and the elderly from cold-related illnesses.
The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work
This humanitarian gesture reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to supporting affected populations worldwide, particularly the Syrian people who have endured the ravages of crisis for many years. This support is an extension of the relief efforts undertaken by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which has become a landmark in international humanitarian work, underscoring the Kingdom's mission to spread goodness and support humanity wherever it may be, without discrimination.
