King Salman Relief Center distributes tents and aid in Hajjah, Yemen

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid , continued its tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people, as the center carried out an urgent shelter aid distribution operation in Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen.
Specifically, the center's team distributed 100 complete shelter kits and 100 tents in the Shuleila camp, located in the Haradh district of Hajjah Governorate. This aid helped provide safe shelter for 1,122 displaced and affected individuals, as part of the center's emergency shelter assistance project implemented across various Yemeni governorates.
The importance of humanitarian intervention in Hajjah
This aid is of paramount importance given the dire humanitarian situation in Hajjah Governorate, one of the Yemeni governorates most affected by the conflict and hosting a large number of internally displaced persons. This initiative comes at a time when displaced families are suffering from a severe shortage of basic necessities, particularly shelter to protect them from harsh weather conditions. Providing tents and shelter kits is therefore essential to preserving the dignity of the beneficiaries and ensuring a minimum level of stability in their lives.
The general context of the Saudi role in Yemen
This support is an extension of the long history of Saudi Arabia's fraternal support for Yemen. Since the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in 2015, the Kingdom has been at the forefront of donor countries to Yemen, with the center implementing hundreds of projects covering the sectors of food security, health, shelter, water, environmental sanitation, and education.
These efforts are not limited to distributing in-kind aid, but extend to supporting infrastructure and logistics to ensure that aid reaches those who need it in the most rugged and affected areas, reflecting the Kingdom’s firm commitment to humanitarian principles and its keenness to alleviate the humanitarian crisis that the United Nations has described as one of the worst crises in the world.
Impact of shelter assistance
The shelter sector is a fundamental pillar of humanitarian work, as the provision of tents and shelter supplies contributes to:
- Protecting families, especially women and children, from exposure and environmental hazards.
- To reduce the spread of diseases that may result from overcrowding in places not suitable for habitation.
- It gave displaced people a sense of relative safety and privacy under the harsh conditions of displacement.
These ongoing field movements confirm that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Relief Center, places the Yemeni humanitarian file at the top of its priorities, harnessing all capabilities to ensure a decent life for our brothers in Yemen until the crisis is resolved.
