King Salman Center provides aid to Hadramawt: Food and winter clothing for thousands of families

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, continued its tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people, as the Hadramawt Governorate witnessed intensive relief activity targeting thousands of affected families in the valley and desert regions, within the framework of the comprehensive humanitarian response plan adopted by the Kingdom.
Details of the emergency food intervention
In a move aimed at enhancing food security, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 13,600 complete food baskets. This distribution covered several districts in the Wadi and Hadramawt Desert, targeting the most vulnerable groups.
According to official project statistics, approximately 95,200 individuals will directly benefit from this food aid. This support is part of the "Emergency Food Interventions Project in Yemen," a key pillar in combating hunger and malnutrition caused by the years-long crisis.
“Kanaf” project to combat the winter cold
In conjunction with food aid, and in recognition of the harsh climatic conditions in the open desert areas, the center launched the winter clothing distribution project under the slogan “Kanf” for the year 2026 in Wadi Hadramawt.
This unique project aims to distribute 2,085 winter clothing kits to the poorest and most vulnerable families. This initiative is of paramount importance given the sharp drop in temperatures experienced in the desert regions of Hadramawt during winter, posing a health risk to children and the elderly due to limited resources and inadequate heating.
The humanitarian context and the importance of Saudi support
This aid comes at a time when Yemen is experiencing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, with UN reports indicating that millions of Yemenis need basic assistance to survive. The vast terrain and harsh desert climate of Hadramawt further complicate access to services, making external relief interventions a lifeline for the population.
This ongoing support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two nations. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's efforts have extended beyond food and clothing to encompass the health, education, shelter, water, and sanitation sectors. These projects contribute to strengthening the resilience of Yemeni society, stimulating the local economy, and directly saving lives and preserving the dignity of beneficiaries.
