King Salman Center distributes food baskets and winter clothing in Hadramawt

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to supporting the brotherly Yemeni people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center implementing its impactful relief programs in Hadramawt Governorate. These efforts included the distribution of substantial food aid, as well as vouchers for winter clothing, targeting the most vulnerable groups and displaced persons in various districts.

Distribution of 40,000 food baskets in Wadi and Hadramawt Desert

The center recently completed the distribution of 40,000 food baskets, covering the needs of 12 districts in Wadi Hadramawt. This initiative is part of the "Emergency Food Interventions Project" in the Republic of Yemen, a vital project aimed at addressing food insecurity in affected areas.

The distribution operations covered a wide range of districts, including: Tarim, Al-Abr with Al-Khasha, Sayun, Shibam, As-Sum, Sah, Al-Qatn, Ramah, Thamud, Al-Qaf, Zamakh and Manwakh, and Hajar As-Say'ar. The total number of beneficiaries of this initiative reached approximately 280,000 individuals, reflecting the extensive geographical and demographic coverage of this relief project.

Winter support through the "Kanaf" project

Alongside food security, the center paid special attention to winter needs, distributing 557 shopping vouchers in the Shibam district, enabling beneficiaries to purchase appropriate winter clothing. This project benefited 557 displaced individuals as part of the "Kanaf" winter clothing distribution initiative, which aims to protect displaced families from the harsh cold that could exacerbate their health and living conditions.

Enhancing food security in Sah district

In a related development, the center distributed an additional 2,250 food baskets in the Sah district of Hadramawt Governorate, benefiting 15,750 individuals. This aid is an integral part of the Kingdom's humanitarian response plan to ensure food reaches areas suffering from difficult economic conditions.

The humanitarian context and the pioneering Saudi role

This aid is of strategic importance given the complex humanitarian situation in Yemen, where UN reports indicate that millions of Yemenis are in urgent need of food assistance. Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, plays a pivotal role in preventing the famine from worsening, and is among the leading donors to Yemen, providing development and relief projects covering the health, food, shelter, and education sectors.

Representatives of the local authorities in the targeted districts expressed their deep appreciation for this generous support, stressing that these interventions contribute directly to the stability of families and provide them with a decent life in light of the current economic challenges.
