The King Salman Relief Center distributes food baskets in Jabalia, northern Gaza

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributing emergency food baskets to affected families in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on Monday. This initiative comes as an immediate response to the escalating needs of the residents, who are suffering from harsh living conditions and a severe shortage of basic food supplies, particularly given the extensive damage inflicted on the camp’s infrastructure.

Challenges of accessing disaster-stricken areas

The Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, as the implementing partner of the King Salman Center in the Gaza Strip, managed the field distribution operations. The process was carried out according to a precise and organized mechanism to ensure that aid reached the most vulnerable groups, despite the significant security and logistical challenges facing relief teams in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip, which are classified as high-risk and difficult to access.

This humanitarian intervention is of paramount importance given the catastrophic situation in the Jabalia camp, where thousands of residents have been forced to live in makeshift tents after their homes were destroyed, making this aid a lifeline for families facing the threat of famine.

Record numbers for the Saudi air and sea bridge

This aid comes as part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people, with the Kingdom establishing a massive air and sea bridge to ensure the flow of assistance. According to the latest statistics, the total amount of support provided has reached:

  • 77 relief planes and 8 giant ships.
  • More than 7,699 tons of food, medical and shelter supplies.
  • 912 trucks loaded with various aid supplies entered the sector .
  • 20 fully equipped ambulances delivered to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

International partnerships and a deep historical foundation of support

The Kingdom's efforts were not limited to direct distribution, but extended to signing strategic agreements with international and UN organizations to implement relief projects worth over $90.35 million . The Kingdom also conducted targeted airdrops of food aid in partnership with the Jordanian Armed Forces to break the imposed blockade and overcome the obstacle of closed border crossings.

This rapid and intensive move reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm historical position in supporting the Palestinian cause, as the Kingdom harnesses all its capabilities through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief Center, to stand by the Palestinian people in various crises, thus embodying the values of Arab and Islamic brotherhood and solidarity.

For their part, the beneficiaries in the Jabalia camp expressed their deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, government and people, stressing that these food baskets came at a critical time to alleviate the burden of the daily suffering they are experiencing.
