King Salman Relief distributes 2,150 food baskets in Hadramawt to support Yemen

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the brotherly Yemeni people, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid continued to implement the emergency food intervention project, targeting the most needy families in Hadramawt Governorate, in order to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis and provide food security for the affected groups.

Yesterday, 650 food baskets were distributed in Hajar al-Say'ar District of Hadramawt Governorate, benefiting 4,550 individuals from families residing in the district. This distribution is an extension of the center's activities in the governorate, as two days prior, the center distributed 1,500 food baskets in Ramah District, benefiting 10,500 individuals. This brings the total distributed over the past two days to 2,150 food baskets, covering the needs of more than 15,000 beneficiaries.

This support is of paramount importance given the difficult economic and living conditions in Yemen, as the emergency food intervention project aims to bridge the food gap and secure basic needs for essential food items. The distributed food baskets typically consist of staples such as wheat, rice, sugar, and oil, thus contributing to food security for beneficiary families for a specific period.

This aid reflects the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in humanitarian work. Through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the Kingdom is one of the largest donors to Yemen. Since the Center's establishment, Yemen has received the largest share of relief projects covering multiple sectors, including health, food, shelter, education, and water and sanitation, with the aim of improving the living conditions of Yemeni citizens in all governorates without discrimination.

The continued flow of relief aid to Hadramawt and other Yemeni governorates affirms the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Yemeni peoples, and embodies the Kingdom’s firm commitment to stand by Yemen in its ordeal, and to support all efforts aimed at restoring stability and overcoming the current humanitarian challenges, which UN reports classify as one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises.
