Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Ramadan programs: Distribution of dates and copies of the Quran in 120 countries

His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, inaugurated today in Riyadh a package of specialized programs implemented by the Ministry during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, in accordance with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. These programs, which include providing iftar meals for fasting individuals and distributing dates and copies of the Quran, aim to reach beneficiaries in 120 countries around the world, reflecting the great care that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia devotes to serving Islam and Muslims across the globe.

Program details: Millions of copies of the Quran and tons of dates

The inauguration included the launch of the "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program for the Distribution of the Holy Quran," which aims to distribute 2.2 million copies of the Holy Quran and translations of its meanings into multiple international languages. This program coincides with the "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Gift Program for the Distribution of Dates," which saw a significant increase in allocated quantities this year, with a total of 1,000 tons of dates to be distributed—an increase of 300 tons compared to the previous year. These in-kind donations cover 120 countries, including 18 new countries that joined the list of beneficiaries this year, thus expanding the scope of this charitable endeavor.

Imamate Program: Strengthening Spiritual Connection

In an effort to revive the spirit of Ramadan and strengthen ties with Muslims abroad, His Excellency the Minister launched the "Imams' Mission" program, which involves sending 91 imams, all memorizers of the Holy Quran, to lead Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers in 49 countries. This program aims to promote the correct recitation of the Holy Quran and reinforce the values of moderation and tolerance through the sermons and lessons of the imams, thereby contributing to the intellectual and spiritual well-being of Muslim communities.

The Kingdom's pioneering role and the depth of its humanitarian message

These programs are an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's longstanding approach, since its founding, of addressing the needs of Muslims worldwide, particularly during major religious seasons such as the holy month of Ramadan. These efforts are not limited to humanitarian aid alone, but also encompass profound spiritual and cultural dimensions, underscoring the Kingdom's role as the heart of the Islamic world and the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The continuation and expansion of these programs year after year reflects the Saudi leadership's commitment to building bridges of communication and affection with Muslim communities and strengthening social solidarity across borders.

A global impact that transcends geographical boundaries

These programs are expected to have a wide-ranging positive impact, not only in providing breakfast and meeting the needs of fasting Muslims in the targeted countries, but also in enhancing the positive image of Islam's tolerance and the Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work. The delivery of copies of the Quran, dates, and imams to Muslim minorities in distant countries sends a message of reassurance and solidarity, confirming to Muslims there that they are not forgotten, and that the heart of the Muslim world stands with them and shares in the joy of the holy month.

Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh concluded his statement by emphasizing that these initiatives represent a global humanitarian message stemming from the blessed values of the Kingdom, noting that the Ministry has harnessed all its human, technical and logistical capabilities to ensure that these gifts and aid reach those who deserve them in a timely manner, and in a manner befitting the Kingdom’s status and its noble mission of spreading goodness and peace.
