King Salman Center provides urgent aid to displaced people in Aleppo and Afghanistan
As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend a helping hand to affected peoples around the world, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid its intensive relief activity, targeting displaced and most needy families in both the Syrian Arab Republic and Afghanistan, within a series of vital projects aimed at securing basic needs of shelter and food.
Urgent winter aid for displaced people in Aleppo
In its urgent response to the harsh winter conditions, the center distributed essential shelter aid in the Syrian province of Aleppo. This aid included 360 blankets and 180 shelter kits , benefiting 180 displaced families living in dire circumstances.
This initiative comes at a critical time, as displaced people in northern Syria are suffering from plummeting temperatures and a shortage of heating supplies, making these shelter kits and blankets a lifeline for families lacking safe shelter. This aid is part of a broader project aimed at distributing Saudi assistance to the brotherly Syrian people, alleviating their ongoing suffering and strengthening their resilience in the face of harsh climatic and living conditions.
Enhancing food security in Afghanistan
In a related development, Saudi Arabia's humanitarian efforts extended eastward, specifically to Afghanistan, where the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 570 food baskets in Sheberghan, the capital of Jawzjan province. These aid packages benefited 570 families, comprising 3,420 individuals, including the most vulnerable groups such as returning families, internally displaced persons, orphans, and those in need.
This distribution is part of the “Food Security and Emergency Support” project in Afghanistan, which aims to address the food gap affecting many Afghan regions due to economic and natural conditions. These food baskets provide essential family needs, contributing to combating malnutrition and achieving a degree of livelihood stability for beneficiaries.
