New King Fahd Causeway tolls 2026 and details of the 40% discount

The King Fahd Causeway Authority is preparing to implement the new toll structure for crossing the bridge linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain on Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026. This decision coincides with the activation of a package of instant discounts of up to 40%, a step aimed at regulating traffic flow and improving operational efficiency.

Historical context and vital artery

The King Fahd Causeway, officially opened in 1986, is one of the most important development projects in the region, stretching 25 kilometers and connecting the two brotherly countries. For decades, the bridge has been more than just a crossing point; it has been a vital economic and social artery, contributing to increased trade and tourism, and recording record numbers of travelers annually. This means that any new regulations concerning it will have a significant and direct impact on transportation in the Arabian Gulf.

Details of the new fees and exempted categories

In less than 72 hours, toll gates will begin collecting the updated rates for one-way vehicles and trucks, the details of which are as follows:

  • Private cars and motorcycles: 35 riyals.
  • Minibuses: 55 riyals.
  • Large buses: 70 riyals.
  • Trucks: 7 riyals per ton.

Despite the price adjustments, the institution took into account the humanitarian and social dimensions, as three main categories were excluded from any increase, namely: (students, people with disabilities, and frequent travelers), as the fees for these categories will remain at their current levels in appreciation of their circumstances and frequent commitments.

Smart packages and flexible savings options

The implementation of the new fees coincides with the launch of smart options via the "Jisr" app, aimed at providing economical solutions for travelers, most notably:

  • Frequent Flyer Package (40% Discount): Worth 850 Riyals, valid for one month or 40 crossings, and targets daily or semi-daily travelers.
  • Frequent Flyer Package (20% Discount): Worth 1120 Riyals, valid for a full year or 40 crossings, it is an ideal option for travelers who fly at widely spaced intervals.
  • Round trip package (15% discount): Worth 60 riyals, valid for one week, to encourage advance planning of short trips.

Digital transformation and streamlining procedures

As part of efforts to enhance digital services, services have been linked to the Absher platform via the Absher Travel service, which allows for prepayment of fees and vehicle insurance. Instructions emphasized the necessity of conducting location verification via the Nafath application upon arrival at the booth, or biometric verification via an employee, to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Expected economic and regulatory impact

This new system is expected to reduce waiting times at the gates thanks to the increased use of prepaid and smart packages. It will also enhance the efficiency of traffic management, particularly during peak seasons and holidays, supporting tourism and trade between the two kingdoms and providing a smoother and more convenient travel experience for millions of users annually.
