Upgrading the electricity network in the tents of the holy sites for the Hajj season

Kadana Development and Investment Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, announced the completion of its strategic project to replace the electrical panels in the tents of the Holy Sites, specifically in Mina. This proactive step is part of a comprehensive package of development projects dedicated to the 1447 AH Hajj season, which primarily aims to modernize the electrical infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of reliability and safety for pilgrims during their rituals.
The historical context of the development of the tents of the Holy Sites
Over the decades, the tents in the Holy Sites have undergone radical transformations in their infrastructure. From the traditional tents of old, the Saudi Arabian government transitioned to the advanced, fire-resistant tent project in Mina, one of the largest construction projects in the history of Hajj. With the increasing number of pilgrims each year, the need to develop power and electricity networks to keep pace with this continuous expansion has become paramount. Upgrading the electrical systems is not a recent development, but rather an extension of the Kingdom's ongoing historical efforts to ensure the stability of essential services and provide a safe and comfortable environment for pilgrims, reflecting the profound concern that the wise leadership has placed on the well-being of the guests of God since the founding of the Kingdom.
Details of the electrical panel project and continued readiness
The latest phase of the project included the installation of 298 advanced electrical panels. This massive undertaking was carried out in two main phases to ensure continuous operational readiness. The first phase involved the completion and installation of 228 panels, while the second phase added 70 more. These panels were designed according to the highest engineering specifications, taking into account the heavy electrical loads required in the holy sites. They support the stability of electrical loads during peak times in the Hajj season, preventing any outages that could affect the comfort and safety of pilgrims.
The expected impact of infrastructure upgrades on pilgrims
This project is of paramount importance and will have a wide-ranging positive impact. Locally, it primarily aims to enhance operational and maintenance efficiency, reduce the likelihood of technical malfunctions, and improve power distribution to minimize electricity losses and ensure a stable and continuous supply. Regionally and internationally, the Kingdom's success in managing millions of pilgrims and providing them with a stable power supply reinforces its leading global position in managing major events and crises. The project also contributes to providing sufficient power to operate lighting, air conditioning, medical equipment, and other service facilities in the tents, directly enhancing the pilgrim experience and improving the quality of the living environment in the holy sites.
Integration with Saudi Vision 2030
This achievement embodies Kadana Company's commitment to leading the sustainable development of the Holy Sites and enhancing the quality of life through the provision of integrated and innovative technological solutions. The company works diligently to align all its construction and operational projects with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically the Guests of God Service Program. This integration aims to provide safe and comfortable services befitting the sanctity of the holy sites and fulfilling the aspirations of the wise leadership – may God support them – to facilitate the pilgrim's journey from arrival to departure in peace and security.
