King Abdulaziz University launches artificial intelligence tracks

King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, launched the “Flexible Learning Pathways in Artificial Intelligence” program in collaboration with the National Center for E-Learning via the “FutureX” platform. This strategic step to launch AI pathways coincides with the celebration of the “Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026,” aiming to enhance the digital capabilities of national talent and prepare them for advanced technical roles, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to build a sustainable knowledge-based economy.

Digital transformation in Saudi education and Vision 2030

The higher education sector in Saudi Arabia has witnessed significant leaps toward comprehensive digital transformation in recent years. King Abdulaziz University (the Founder's University) is at the forefront of academic institutions that have adopted ambitious strategies to integrate emerging technologies into their curricula. The launch of this initiative comes in response to the growing demand for future skills, as the Kingdom seeks to localize technology and build a solid base of innovators and programmers capable of leading the technology sector both locally and regionally.

Academic and technological alliances to develop artificial intelligence pathways

The new program is based on close strategic partnerships with leading global technology and education institutions. These alliances include tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and IBM, as well as collaboration with the global educational platform Coursera. The partnerships extend beyond the technical aspect, encompassing the long-standing academic expertise of prestigious universities like Oxford and the University of Pennsylvania. This ensures the delivery of exceptionally high-quality educational content that meets international standards and provides participants with globally recognized certificates that enhance their value in the job market.

Expected impact of the initiative on the labor market and international competitiveness

This program has significant impacts on multiple levels. Locally, it helps bridge the skills gap in the Saudi labor market by providing graduates with documented training hours and hands-on practical experience, thus increasing their employment rates in vital sectors. Regionally, it strengthens the Kingdom's position as a leading hub for digital innovation and advanced technologies in the Middle East. Internationally, graduating qualified professionals with degrees from prestigious institutions like Google and Oxford puts Saudi talent in direct competition with global professionals and supports the Kingdom's efforts to export knowledge and contribute effectively to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
