Jeddah Municipality launches the first risk management platform in the Kingdom

In a first for the municipal sector in Saudi Arabia, the Jeddah Municipality announced the launch of a comprehensive electronic platform for risk management. This launch represents a significant leap forward in institutional operations, as the platform aims to automate risk monitoring and analysis processes, thereby enhancing the municipality's ability to make strategic decisions based on accurate data, in line with global best practices in governance and crisis management.
A proactive digital system for risk analysis
Professor Ikram Al-Harbi, Director General of Governance, Risk, and Compliance at the Jeddah Municipality, explained that the new platform is not merely an archiving tool, but rather a smart digital system that provides integrated solutions starting from identifying and defining risks, through analyzing and assessing their impact, to addressing and monitoring them regularly. She pointed out that the platform's most prominent feature lies in its ability to provide proactive indicators, which helps officials predict potential risks before they occur, thus enhancing the municipality's readiness to deal with various operational and environmental challenges with high efficiency.
Digital transformation and keeping pace with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This achievement cannot be separated from the broader context of the digital transformation underway in Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030. Government entities, particularly the municipal sector, are striving to adopt the latest technologies to enhance transparency and operational efficiency. Risk management is a cornerstone of the Vision's programs, especially those related to the National Transformation Program and the Quality of Life Program. The Jeddah Municipality's transition from traditional to digital risk management reflects a clear commitment to implementing governance and compliance standards, which contributes to protecting public resources and ensuring the sustainability of development projects.
Project implications for the quality of municipal services
This platform is expected to have a direct and positive impact on the residents and visitors of Jeddah. Through effective risk management, the municipality will be able to improve the quality of municipal services and reduce disruptions or delays in service projects. Risk forecasting also helps prevent infrastructure crises or potential natural disasters, thus enhancing public safety and security. This approach underscores the Jeddah Municipality's commitment to developing a flexible institutional work environment capable of adapting to rapid changes and solidifying Jeddah's position as one of the region's smart and sustainable cities.
