Jeddah Municipality 2025: 352 rescue operations and strict monitoring of beaches

The Jeddah Governorate Municipality announced its comprehensive annual report for 2025, which highlights its intensive efforts in protecting and monitoring the coastlines, revealing the success of its field teams in dealing with 352 rescue cases, as part of its strategy to ensure the safety of beachgoers and visitors to the sea in the Bride of the Red Sea.

Strategic importance and prime geographical location

These efforts are doubly important given Jeddah's strategic position as a major gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and a leading tourist destination on the Red Sea coast. With the increasing demand for both domestic and international tourism, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , securing the beaches and regulating marine activities has become a cornerstone for enhancing the visitor experience. The Municipality acts not only as a service provider but also as a guardian of the marine environment, a national treasure that must be preserved for future generations.

Field monitoring figures and statistics

2,073 patrols last year , logging 11,372 hours of field patrols. These efforts extended beyond rescue operations to include regulatory aspects, resulting in the issuance of 1,964 sailing permits and the recording of 167 maritime violations. These stringent measures aim to curb reckless practices that could threaten public safety or harm the ecological balance of the beaches.

Wide coverage range and advanced technologies

The Jeddah Municipality's responsibilities extend across a vast geographical area, encompassing 530 kilometers of coastline, stretching from Rabigh in the north to Al-Qunfudhah in the south. To manage this extensive area, the municipality has established a specialized agency for coastal monitoring and protection, staffed by 104 qualified personnel, including lifeguards and inspectors, deployed across 14 major beaches to ensure rapid response to emergencies.

In this context, the Deputy Mayor of Jeddah for Monitoring and Protecting the Maritime Coasts, Captain Thamer Nahhas, confirmed that the municipality relies on a marine fleet equipped with the latest tracking technologies and 24-hour operations rooms, which ensures high operational efficiency in crisis management and directing field teams.

Resort oversight and quality of life

The municipality did not neglect the tourism investment sector, as its oversight included 66 seaside resorts through 280 field visits to ensure their compliance with safety requirements and service quality standards. These integrated efforts contribute to the Quality of Life , one of the Vision 2030 programs, which aims to create the necessary environment to support and develop new options that enhance the participation of citizens, residents, and visitors in cultural, recreational, and sporting activities within a safe and sustainable environment.
