The Jeddah Governorate Municipality announced record achievements in the public cleanliness sector and improving the urban landscape during the year 2025 AD, as official reports revealed the implementation of extensive cleaning operations that included more than 52 million square meters of vacant land, as part of its comprehensive strategy to improve the quality of life in the governorate.
Intensive efforts are underway to align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
These intensive efforts are part of the Municipality's commitment to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , specifically within the "Quality of Life" program, which focuses on improving the living environment for residents and visitors. These efforts are of particular importance given Jeddah's status as the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and a major tourist and commercial destination on the Red Sea coast, making the preservation of its cleanliness and overall appearance a top priority for enhancing the city's tourism and investment competitiveness.
Record numbers in field cleanliness
The annual report of the General Directorate of Cleaning Projects explained that the field teams worked around the clock to cover all parts of the governorate, and the achievements included:

- Facilities washing: Cleaning and washing sidewalks and public facilities with a length exceeding 24,000 kilometers.
Combating visual pollution and improving the urban landscape
The municipality's efforts were not limited to traditional cleaning, but extended to addressing visual pollution that negatively impacts the city's overall appearance. In this context, the supervisory and field teams succeeded in:
- More than 70,000 billboards and advertising posters that violated regulations were removed.
- Over 24,000 square meters of graffiti and defaced walls and facilities were erased and treated.
- Lifting and dealing with more than 18,000 concrete barriers that were obstructing movement and distorting the general view.
Environmental and social impact
These large-scale operations directly contribute to enhancing public health by eliminating pollution hotspots and insect breeding grounds, and play a pivotal role in preserving Jeddah's marine and terrestrial environment. Experts affirm that the continuation of this pace of fieldwork strengthens Jeddah's appeal as a global city and provides a safe and healthy environment for residents, which positively impacts public satisfaction and the level of municipal services provided.
The Jeddah Governorate Secretariat concluded its report by emphasizing the continued development of the operational system and raising the efficiency of field performance, in order to keep pace with the urban expansion and rapid population growth that the governorate is witnessing, to ensure the provision of a sustainable and clean urban environment.
