Jeddah Municipality cracks down on random violations in Salman Bay campaign

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life and improve the urban landscape in coastal areas, the Jeddah Municipality , represented by the Dhahban Sub-Municipality, conducted a large-scale field campaign targeting the Salman Bay area, one of the most prominent waterfront destinations in the north of the city. This initiative is part of the municipality's strategy to eliminate negative phenomena and municipal violations that affect the comfort and safety of visitors.

Monitoring violations and confiscating equipment

Intensive inspection tours conducted by field teams revealed numerous regulatory violations, including the detection of unlicensed commercial activities. These violations included the proliferation of unregulated motorcycle rental sites, the presence of vehicles selling ice cream and food of unknown origin, and the widespread presence of makeshift stalls obstructing pedestrian traffic and causing visual pollution.

The campaign resulted in immediate and decisive measures, including the withdrawal and impounding of a large number of motorcycles and ice cream trucks in violation, and the removal of all random stalls from the beach area, in accordance with deterrent municipal regulations and bylaws.

The importance of Salman Bay and the general context

Salman Bay holds particular importance as a vital natural and tourist destination for residents and visitors of Jeddah, especially with the city's northward urban expansion. The municipality is giving this area significant attention to ensure it remains a safe and clean destination, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program, which focuses primarily on addressing visual pollution and improving the urban landscape in Saudi cities.

The unregulated rental of motorcycles in family recreation areas is one of the most significant challenges facing municipalities, given the serious risks it poses to the safety of children and the elderly, in addition to the noise and environmental disturbances it causes. Furthermore, the sale of food from unlicensed vehicles threatens public health due to the lack of health inspections and adherence to food safety standards.

Official statements and continued oversight

For his part, the head of the Dhahban sub-municipality, Abdullah Mubarak , explained that these random practices not only constitute a violation of the system, but also represent a direct threat to the safety of picnickers and beachgoers, and contribute to distorting the tourist environment of the region that the state seeks to develop.

The Jeddah Municipality affirmed its determination to continue these field campaigns on a regular and surprise basis, to monitor all forms of visual pollution in the area, stressing that it will not tolerate any violations of the regulations, to ensure the provision of a safe, organized, and slum-free coastal environment befitting the status of Jeddah Governorate as the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and a global tourist destination.
