The Governor of Jeddah honors the winners of the first research conference for Makkah universities

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah, attended the closing ceremony of the First Research Conference for University Students in Makkah Region. The ceremony was hosted by Jeddah University, and was also attended by His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council of University Affairs, Professor Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, and a number of prominent academic and research leaders in the region.
Strengthening the scientific research system and Vision 2030
This conference comes at a crucial time, aligning with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strategic direction towards a knowledge-based economy. Scientific research and innovation are cornerstones of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to empower young national talent and enhance the competitiveness of Saudi universities regionally and internationally. This academic gathering of students represents a significant step towards unifying research efforts among universities in the region, creating a fertile environment for exchanging ideas and developing scientific solutions to developmental challenges.
Conference objectives and outcomes
The conference primarily aimed to support student scientific research and foster a culture of innovation and creativity among university students. It provided a robust scientific platform that allowed students to present their projects and research, contributing to honing their research skills and aligning higher education outcomes with national development needs and the evolving job market. The event included a visual presentation showcasing the most prominent scientific research and innovative projects presented by students, reflecting an advanced level of scientific awareness and creative ability.
Strategic partnerships and recognition of outstanding individuals
On the sidelines of the ceremony, His Royal Highness the Governor of Jeddah witnessed the signing of several strategic cooperation agreements between Jeddah University and a number of relevant entities. These agreements aim to enhance scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation, and to expand partnerships for the exchange of expertise and knowledge, thus embodying the integration between educational institutions and various sectors.
At the conclusion of the event, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Jalawi honored the winning and distinguished teams in the various conference tracks. A total of 140 teams were recognized, representing 309 male and female students from 10 universities in the Makkah region. This honor comes in appreciation of their research efforts and scientific contributions, and to motivate them to continue their pursuit of excellence and contribution in the fields of science and knowledge, so that they may be valuable contributors to building the future of the nation.
