New Arar border crossing welcomes pilgrims to perform Umrah during Ramadan

With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, the hearts of millions of Muslims turn towards the holy lands to perform the rituals of Umrah. In this context, the General Directorate of Passports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the start of receiving the guests of God coming to perform Ramadan Umrah through the new Arar land port in the Northern Borders region, stressing that all preparations have been completed to finalize their entry procedures with ease and convenience.
Historical background and religious significance
Umrah during Ramadan holds a special spiritual significance for Muslims, as it is a time when rewards are multiplied and a profound sense of faith pervades the occasion. The New Arar border crossing is a vital and strategic gateway, particularly for pilgrims arriving by land from the sisterly Republic of Iraq. Historically, this crossing has served as a major passage for Iraqi Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, and over the years it has witnessed significant development in its infrastructure and logistical services to accommodate the increasing numbers of pilgrims, reflecting the deep fraternal ties between the two countries.
Comprehensive preparations and modern equipment
The General Directorate of Passports confirmed its complete readiness at all international ports of entry, including the New Arar border crossing, to receive Umrah pilgrims. The passport control areas at the crossing have been staffed with highly qualified and trained personnel to handle arrival procedures efficiently and quickly. They have also been equipped with the latest technology to expedite document verification and entry data registration, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for pilgrims from the moment they arrive in the Kingdom.
Local and regional impact
The impact of this event extends beyond the religious sphere to encompass significant economic and social dimensions. Locally, the influx of pilgrims stimulates economic activity in the Northern Borders region and the areas they traverse on their way to Mecca and Medina. Regionally, facilitating the entry of Iraqi pilgrims strengthens human ties and underscores the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the heart of the Islamic world and the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. These efforts fall under the umbrella of the "Guests of God Service Program," a key component of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to enrich and enhance the Hajj and Umrah experience for Muslims from around the globe.
The Passports Department called on all arrivals to adhere to the regulations and instructions in force in the Kingdom during their stay, wishing them an accepted Umrah and a pleasant stay.
