Islamic Electronic Library Update for Ramadan 1447 | Islamic Affairs

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to harness modern technology in the service of Islam and Muslims, and under the direct guidance of His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh, the Ministry, represented by the Agency for Publications and Scientific Research, announced the launch of the new and comprehensive update of the Islamic Electronic Library, coinciding with the approach of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH.

A digital leap in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030

This update is an integral part of the Ministry's digital transformation strategy, which aims to align with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Disseminating Islamic knowledge is no longer limited to traditional methods and printed books, but has expanded into broader spaces through digital platforms that ensure access to reliable information for millions worldwide at the touch of a button. This project reflects the historical evolution of the Kingdom's efforts in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, as outreach services have transformed from geographically limited, traditional methods to smart, borderless services.

Rich and multilingual scientific content

The updated Islamic e-library is characterized by its comprehensiveness and diversity, with the book and content lists rearranged to precisely meet the needs of those fasting and performing Umrah during the holy month. The library includes:

  • More than 1000 diverse scientific materials, including written, audio, and visual materials.
  • Content translated into 52 international languages to serve Muslims from all over the world.
  • Electronic copies of the Holy Quran, books on creed, rituals, supplications and remembrances.
  • Works by senior scholars such as His Eminence Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz, Sheikh Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Uthaymeen - may God have mercy on them - and His Excellency the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom.

Easy access and multi-platform

The ministry ensured easy access to the library through multiple channels to guarantee a seamless user experience for pilgrims. The content can be accessed through:

  • The “Tawakkalna” application and the “Rushd” application.
  • The official website of the library.
  • More than 84 interactive screens are strategically distributed in the holy sites, the Prophet’s Mosque, international airports, prayer times, and major shopping centers in cities such as Mecca, Medina, Jeddah, Taif, and others.

Expected impact and strategic dimensions

This upgrade extends beyond simply displaying books; it also aims to promote moderate religious awareness and combat extremist ideologies by disseminating sound Islamic knowledge derived from the Quran and Sunnah. The library has proven its effectiveness, serving over 700,000 beneficiaries, a number expected to double during Ramadan 1447 AH thanks to the new updates and the distribution of over 30 million informational brochures. This will enhance the spiritual experience of pilgrims and facilitate their performance of Hajj rituals correctly.
