The Ministry of Islamic Affairs is training 800 preachers to promote moderation and tolerance

The fourth training course for preachers, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Dawah and Guidance Agency, will begin tomorrow. This initiative is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to develop human resources and enhance the efficiency of da'wah work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This edition aims to train 800 newly appointed preachers, as well as those who did not pass the tests and interviews in previous courses.
Context of the national plan and the development of religious discourse
This course falls under the umbrella of the Fourth National Plan for the Care of Qualifying Preachers, and it is an integral part of the Kingdom’s comprehensive strategy to modernize and develop the religious sector in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Through these programs, the Ministry seeks to ensure that preachers are fully aware of contemporary changes and are able to deliver a balanced religious discourse that addresses the needs of society and answers its questions in a sound scientific manner.
This event is of particular importance in light of the general trend to promote the values of tolerance and coexistence, as these courses are the cornerstone in preparing a generation of preachers capable of consolidating the concepts of moderation and centrism, and combating extremist and alien ideas, thus enhancing intellectual security in Saudi society.
Statistics and figures reflecting the scale of the work
Reflecting the scale of the efforts, the total number of contracted preachers currently stands at 2,294. Previous training courses have seen successive cohorts of qualified individuals graduate: the first course benefited 600 preachers, the second 560, and the third 600. With the current course targeting 800 participants, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to meeting all field needs for qualified religious scholars.
Strategic objectives: efficiency and technology
These training programs aim not only to increase numbers but also to focus fundamentally on quality. The courses aim to develop participants' cognitive and scientific skills through multiple tracks encompassing legal, intellectual, and methodological aspects. The Ministry also places great importance on empowering preachers to utilize modern technologies and social media to ensure the accurate dissemination of the message of Islam to the widest possible audience, in a manner that resonates with contemporary audiences.
In conclusion, this ongoing activity in the Ministry of Islamic Affairs is evidence of the utmost care given to the preaching platform, to ensure that it remains a beacon of guidance and a source for strengthening national unity and tolerant Islamic values, far from extremism or negligence.
