A program to train imams in Jazan: intellectual fortification and combating drugs

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening intellectual and social security in the southern regions of the Kingdom, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by the Institute of Imams and Preachers, launched an intensive awareness and training program for mosque staff in the border strip of the Jazan region. This program is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to activate the mosque's role in preserving society and protecting its achievements.

Intellectual fortification strategy in border areas

This program is of particular importance given the vital geographical location of the Jazan region, whose border areas constitute the Kingdom's first line of defense. Defending the borders is not limited to the military aspect alone, but extends to "intellectual security," a concept the Kingdom seeks to establish within its Vision 2030. The program aims to intellectually fortify society against foreign ideologies, promote the values ​​of good citizenship, and ensure that mosque pulpits remain beacons of moderation and tolerance, far removed from extremism or partisanship that threaten the social fabric.

Program activities in FIFA and Al-Dayer

The institute launched the program's activities at strategic locations, including the training hall at the Social Development Center in Fifa Governorate and Al Ali Secondary School in Al Dayer Governorate. The program directly targeted imams, preachers, and muezzins, recognizing them as opinion leaders in their local communities and the most influential figures in guiding people toward righteous conduct. The sessions, presented by a select group of specialists and preachers, focused on solidifying the correct Islamic creed based on pure monotheism, rejecting extremist partisan groups, and emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the community and obeying those in authority as a cornerstone of stability.

Pulpits in the face of the scourge of drugs

In connection with the Kingdom's comprehensive national campaign to combat drugs, the program dedicated significant space to raising awareness about the dangers of this scourge and its devastating effects on individuals and families. Emphasis was placed on the role of imams in clarifying the Islamic legal ruling on drugs and exposing their security and health risks, thus positioning mosques as active partners with security agencies in confronting drug dealers and protecting youth from these harmful substances.

This outreach initiative receives direct and continuous oversight from His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, who consistently emphasizes the importance of equipping mosque staff with the necessary knowledge and legal expertise to fulfill their duties.
