Islamic Affairs and the National Guard: A partnership to enhance intellectual security

A strategic partnership to promote intellectual security and the values of moderation
In a move aimed at strengthening integration among Saudi state institutions, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and the Ministry of the National Guard signed a joint memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the fields of da'wah (Islamic outreach), awareness, and guidance. The signing took place at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs headquarters in Riyadh, with the Ministry represented by its Undersecretary for Dawah and Guidance Affairs, Dr. Saud bin Alibi Al-Ghamdi, and the National Guard represented by the Head of the Guidance and Counseling Department, Dr. Abdulhakim bin Mohammed Al-Ajlan.
This memorandum aims to consolidate the values of moderation and centrism, spread correct legal awareness, and enhance intellectual security among National Guard personnel, in line with the directives of the wise leadership and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes the importance of building a vibrant and strong society with its firmly established Islamic and national values.
General context and importance of institutional partnership
This collaboration comes within the framework of a comprehensive national strategy to combat extremist ideologies and fortify society against deviant intellectual currents. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs plays a pivotal role in this context, as it is the official body responsible for disseminating the tolerant teachings of Islam and correcting misconceptions. On the other hand, the National Guard, with its long history and vital role in defending the homeland and preserving its internal security, represents a fundamental pillar of the state. Therefore, equipping its personnel with sound religious and national awareness is a strategic necessity to ensure they perform their duties to the fullest extent and to protect them against any attempts at recruitment or intellectual manipulation.
Key areas of cooperation and expected impact
The memorandum of understanding outlines clear action plans to translate its objectives into tangible results. These plans include intensifying specialized training courses, lectures, and workshops, and implementing joint programs that contribute to raising awareness among National Guard personnel. The agreement also includes the exchange of information and expertise of mutual interest, cooperation in printing and distributing scientific and guidance materials issued by both parties, and leveraging the organizational mechanisms available to each entity to ensure optimal outcomes.
Domestically, this cooperation is expected to contribute to strengthening national unity and social cohesion by building a robust intellectual foundation among members of the armed forces. Regionally and internationally, this initiative reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to combating extremism both ideologically and practically, and to providing a leading model for protecting vital institutions from destructive ideas, thus reinforcing its position as a force for stability and peace in the region and the world.
