The Minister of Interior performs the funeral prayer for Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani
In a scene filled with sorrow and reverence, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, performed the funeral prayer this afternoon for the late Lieutenant General Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Assistant Minister of Interior for Operations. The prayer was held at the King Khalid Mosque in Riyadh, which was attended by a large congregation of worshippers and mourners.
Following the funeral prayer, His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior conveyed the condolences of the wise leadership – the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister – may God protect them – to the sons and family of the deceased. His Royal Highness prayed to God Almighty to have mercy on the deceased, grant him a place in Paradise, and grant his family patience and solace in this great loss.
Alongside His Highness the Minister of Interior, a large number of Their Highnesses the Princes, Their Excellencies the Ministers, senior officials in the Ministry of Interior, as well as an elite group of security and military leaders and a large crowd of citizens who came to offer their condolences, participated in the prayer, reflecting the great status that the deceased enjoyed in the hearts of his loved ones and colleagues.
The passing of Lieutenant General Saeed Al-Qahtani is a great loss to a prominent national security figure, who dedicated many years of his life to serving his religion, his king, and his country. He held numerous high-ranking leadership positions within the security forces, most notably serving as Director of Public Security for many years before being appointed Assistant Minister of the Interior for Operations. He was known – may God have mercy on him – for his dedication and sincerity in his work, his firmness in enforcing regulations, and his effective contribution to developing the security system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The importance of the role played by Lieutenant General Al-Qahtani throughout his career is highlighted by his oversight of numerous sensitive security matters, including managing security plans for Hajj and Umrah seasons for consecutive years, which witnessed tangible successes in ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims.
