Inquire about vehicle registration and vehicle sales through Absher 2024

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's rapid digital transformation under Vision 2030, the Ministry of Interior continues to develop its electronic services through the "Absher" platform, streamlining procedures for citizens and residents and saving them time and effort. Traffic services, particularly inquiries about vehicle documents and ownership transfers, are among the most frequently used and crucial services for ensuring legal compliance and protecting rights.

How to check the expiry date of your driver's license via Absher

The Ministry of Interior, through its "Absher" platform, has provided an easy and convenient mechanism to verify the validity of vehicle registration forms and driver's licenses, thus helping users avoid fines for late renewal. The approved steps are as follows:

  • Log in to the Absher electronic platform using your digital identity (username and password).
  • Go to the main menu and select "Dashboard" .
  • Go to the "Digital Documents" .
  • Select "Driving License" or "Traffic Permit" to view the document details and expiry date.

This service is part of the "Digital Documents Portfolio" package, which enables the beneficiary to view his IDs and official documents without the need to carry paper copies, which reflects the technological development in the infrastructure of government services.

Electronic vehicle sales service: security and reliability

In addition to inquiry services, the Absher platform provides the "Vehicle Sales" service, which has brought about a qualitative shift in the Kingdom's car market, as it allows individuals to complete sales and purchase transactions and pay for the vehicle entirely electronically without the need to visit showrooms, thus enhancing transparency and eliminating fraud.

Terms and conditions for benefiting from the sale service

To ensure the integrity of the process, the platform has set a number of strict conditions that must be met to complete the sale, namely:

  • Both the seller and the buyer must be registered and active on the Absher platform.
  • The price of the vehicle should range between 500 riyals and 1,000,000 Saudi riyals.
  • The vehicle must be in "sound" status in the system, and not suspended, lost, wanted, or impounded.
  • Validity of the vehicle registration (form) and periodic vehicle inspection.
  • Having a valid vehicle insurance policy.
  • Payment of the government fees for transferring ownership via the "SADAD" system, amounting to 150 riyals.

Payment mechanism and guarantee of financial rights

The service features a secure financial system that guarantees the rights of both parties. The platform explained that vehicle payment is made through a dedicated escrow account. The seller receives payment only after the transfer is officially completed, thus documenting the transactions and ensuring that the buyer receives the vehicle and the seller receives payment.

If the two parties disagree or wish to cancel the deal before the "vehicle delivery" step, the system allows the cancellation of the sale and the return of all amounts paid electronically to the buyer without complications.

It should be noted that the fees for completing the sale through the platform amount to 230 riyals including value-added tax, which is added to the price of the vehicle and paid by the buyer. These fees are refundable if the transaction is cancelled for any reason, which enhances confidence in government electronic transactions.
