Historical roots and a flag flying high across generations

It is impossible to discuss the "In Love with Green" exhibition without addressing the profound historical context of Saudi Flag Day. The history of the Saudi flag stretches back to the very beginnings of the Saudi state, where it has always been a symbol of national unity and cohesion. Celebrating this day, which falls on March 11th each year, commemorates the adoption of the flag in its current form by King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God have mercy on him. The significance of this context is evident in the exhibited paintings that depict the evolution of the Saudi flag, and how it has become emotionally connected to the Saudi people over the decades, transforming from a symbol of peace and Islam with the declaration of faith (shahada), to a symbol of strength and justice with the unsheathed sword.

The cultural and national impact of the "In Love with Green" exhibition events

The "In Love with Green" exhibition holds profound significance that transcends the boundaries of traditional art displays, extending its positive impact on local and regional levels. Locally, the exhibition contributes to strengthening national identity among younger generations and reinforces values of loyalty through a universal visual language understood by all. Regionally and internationally, such exhibitions reflect the cultural identity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and highlight the remarkable development of the Saudi visual arts sector under the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Presenting Saudi heritage in contemporary artistic forms makes the exhibition a bridge for cultural exchange with the world and a crucial platform for showcasing the Kingdom's soft power.
