The Islamic Alliance launches a tactical intelligence program in Riyadh

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) announced today the launch of its specialized training program in tactical intelligence at its headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This program is part of a series of strategic initiatives led by the coalition to strengthen the security and defense capabilities of member states and enhance the efficiency of their personnel in addressing current challenges.

Program details and participants

The five-day training program, running from December 7 to 11, 2025, will feature 22 elite military personnel representing 11 member states of the coalition. Participating countries include: the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Morocco, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.

The program focuses on providing participants with advanced skills that include an in-depth understanding of the tactical intelligence cycle, decision support mechanisms for field commanders, methods for carrying out modern surveillance and reconnaissance missions, and methods for analyzing information and accurately assessing security and military situations.

Context of the Alliance's Establishment and its Strategic Objectives

This program builds upon the pivotal role played by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) since its establishment at the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in December 2015. The coalition, comprising 42 member states, aims to unify Islamic efforts in combating terrorism and extremism across four key areas: intellectual, media, countering the financing of terrorism, and military. Training and capacity-building programs are cornerstones of the coalition's strategy to ensure the readiness of member states' armed forces to operate according to unified principles.

The importance of tactical intelligence in modern warfare

This program is of paramount importance given the evolving nature of terrorist threats, which now rely on unconventional tactics and guerrilla warfare. Tactical intelligence is the lifeblood of successful military operations, enabling armed forces to anticipate events and dismantle terrorist cells before they can carry out their plans. Furthermore, the exchange of expertise among geographically diverse countries (from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East) enriches participants' knowledge base and deepens their understanding of the transnational nature of these threats.

Saudi support and leadership in combating terrorism

Commenting on the launch of the program, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, affirmed that these programs are part of a comprehensive vision for building sustainable capabilities. Major General Al-Moghedi commended the generous and unlimited support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – the host country – for these initiatives, noting that the program is being implemented with full funding and grants from the Kingdom, reflecting Riyadh's unwavering commitment to supporting international peace and security and assisting brotherly and friendly nations in eradicating the roots of terrorism.
