The Two Holy Mosques: Travel permits for breaking the fast during Ramadan 1447 AH have begun

In an organizational step aimed at enhancing the quality of services provided to pilgrims, the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced the commencement of accepting applications for permits to provide iftar meals for fasting individuals within the Two Holy Mosques during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH. This initiative comes as part of a strategic partnership with the national charitable platform "Ihsan" and the "Nusk" humanitarian foundation, to ensure that iftar meals are provided according to the highest standards of quality and governance.
Application dates and registration process
The authority clarified the approved timetable for receiving applications, which was carefully divided between individuals and non-profit organizations to ensure the smooth flow of procedures. The dates are as follows:
- Individual category: Applications for the Grand Mosque will be accepted from the 3rd to the 5th of Sha’ban, and for the Prophet’s Mosque from the 6th to the 8th of Sha’ban.
- Non-profit organizations: Applications for the Grand Mosque will be accepted from the 6th to the 8th of Sha'ban, and for the Prophet's Mosque from the 9th to the 11th of Sha'ban.
Quantity limits were also set, whereby individuals are allowed to book only one trip with (25) or (50) meals per day, while the minimum for non-profit organizations was set at (10) trips for men and the same for women.
Digital transformation and governance of charitable work
This measure is part of the major digital transformation underway at the Two Holy Mosques. Whereas in previous years the Iftar meals relied on individual efforts that sometimes lacked unified organization, today they depend on trusted digital platforms like "Ihsan." This transformation ensures:
- Standardizing the criteria for meals provided in terms of health and nutrition.
- Facilitating electronic payment processes that must be completed within 72 hours of submitting the application.
- Ensuring that donations and services reach those who deserve them among the visitors of the Two Holy Mosques with high efficiency.
The importance of the Iftar meal in the Two Holy Mosques
The communal iftar meals at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina hold immense spiritual and social significance, representing some of the largest iftar gatherings in the world. Millions of Muslims from diverse ethnicities and nationalities come together, embodying the values of Islamic solidarity and brotherhood. This initiative plays a vital role in:
- Providing breakfast meals for the millions of pilgrims and visitors who crowd the Grand Mosque during the holy month.
- Reviving the tradition of feeding the hungry and promoting the spirit of giving in Saudi and Islamic society.
- Reflecting the bright image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving the guests of God, and harnessing all capabilities for their comfort.
The authority stressed at the end of its statement the need for applicants to adhere to all terms and conditions, noting that the price of the meal includes full implementation by approved catering companies, which relieves donors of the burden of coordination and logistics, and allows them to devote themselves to worship and earn reward.
