The project to maintain the Holy Kaaba has been completed to the highest standards

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques, in coordination with relevant authorities, announced the completion of the periodic maintenance work on the Holy Kaaba and the Hijr Ismail (the semi-circular wall adjacent to the Kaaba). This exceptional project was executed according to the highest international engineering, technical, and operational standards, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to providing the best possible services to pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque. The Authority explained that the project was implemented within a meticulously planned operational framework that prioritized ensuring the smooth flow of worshippers in the circumambulation area (Mataf) without disrupting the performance of rituals and acts of worship for pilgrims and visitors.

A long history of caring for the Sacred House of God

Historically, the care given to the Two Holy Mosques is not a recent development, but rather an extension of a long-standing Islamic and historical tradition passed down through successive leaderships from the time of the Prophet until today. During the blessed Saudi era, the Grand Mosque has received exceptional attention, with successive expansion, restoration, and periodic maintenance projects undertaken to ensure the Kaaba and its surroundings remain in their most magnificent and robust state. These ongoing efforts stem from the profound spiritual and religious significance of the Kaaba as the Qibla for over 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, making the preservation of its structure and splendor a paramount priority that transcends mere engineering work, becoming a message of faith and civilization.

Detail and precision in the maintenance work of the Holy Kaaba

The Authority explained that the maintenance work took approximately 4,700 continuous working hours, professionally distributed across 31 main packages and encompassing 305 diverse activities. This work included the maintenance of the interior, roof, and outer perimeter of the Holy Kaaba, along with conducting thorough inspections and advanced tests of the internal components. The work also involved replacing over 30 linear meters of silicone expansion joints around the Holy Kaaba in all damaged sections, in addition to regrouting over 50 linear meters of marble joints around the Kaaba. Furthermore, the efforts included the complete polishing and buffing of the marble flooring surrounding the Kaaba from all sides, including the side of the Kaaba's door, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail.

The regional and international impact of the Kingdom's efforts

The completion of this monumental project is of paramount importance and will have a far-reaching impact at the local, regional, and international levels. Locally, it reflects the competence of Saudi national personnel and their ability to manage and execute even the largest and most sensitive projects in the holiest of places. Regionally and internationally, the success of this endeavor sends a reassuring message to the entire Muslim world that the Islamic holy sites are in safe hands, with all available technical, human, and material resources dedicated to their service. This commitment contributes to strengthening the Kingdom's position as a leader of the Muslim world and provides a safe and spiritually enriching environment befitting the millions of pilgrims who flock to these sites annually from all corners of the globe.

National expertise and modern technologies

The Authority concluded its statement by affirming that the project was executed by highly qualified Saudi nationals, utilizing the latest technologies and materials that meet international standards. These achievements were made possible through the active participation of supporting entities, enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Kaaba's components, so that it may remain a majestic and radiant beacon for Muslims in the heart of Mecca.
