The Minister of Health inspects Madinah's preparations for Ramadan 2026

As part of intensive preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, conducted an important inspection visit to the Madinah region. During his visit, he personally assessed the readiness of healthcare services provided to visitors of the Prophet's Mosque and residents of the area. This visit is part of the Ministry's proactive plan to ensure the provision of comprehensive healthcare befitting the pilgrims during this blessed month.

The importance of early preparation for the Ramadan season

These inspection tours are of paramount strategic importance, given the high volume of pilgrims and visitors to Madinah during Ramadan, both from within the Kingdom and abroad. Ensuring the complete readiness of healthcare facilities is a cornerstone of the system for serving the guests of God. The Kingdom consistently strives to utilize all available resources to guarantee the health and safety of visitors, enabling them to perform their religious rites with ease and peace of mind. This reflects the wise leadership's commitment to providing the highest standards of healthcare in the two holy cities.

Details of the field tour and recent developments

Following his meeting with the Hajj and Umrah Supervisory and Coordination Committee for the health system, His Excellency the Minister toured several vital health facilities, specifically in the central area surrounding the Prophet's Mosque. He reviewed the development and rehabilitation projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, which included:

  • Updating and developing operating rooms with the latest medical technologies.
  • Expanding and rehabilitating outpatient clinic departments to accommodate larger numbers of patients.
  • Developing incubation and critical care services to ensure rapid handling of critical medical cases.
  • Improving emergency services to increase the speed of response to urgent cases during peak times.

Keeping pace with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030

These efforts are not limited to immediate preparations for the season, but are fully aligned with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program stemming from the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The Ministry aims to build a highly efficient and prepared healthcare system that focuses on promoting public health and prevention, and facilitating access to health services. The Madinah Health Cluster serves as a model for this transformation, working to integrate services across different levels of care to ensure a seamless treatment journey for patients.

Huge capacity to serve millions

It is worth noting that the healthcare system in Madinah operates at a massive capacity to serve over 2.1 million residents, in addition to millions of visitors during peak seasons. These services are provided through a vast network of more than 198 healthcare facilities, all operating within an integrated system that prioritizes patient safety and service quality. During his visit, His Excellency the Minister emphasized the need to maintain this level of service to ensure the provision of high-quality and distinguished services throughout the holy month.
