As part of intensive preparations for the Hajj season, the Minister of Health, Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel, conducted a comprehensive inspection tour to assess the readiness of healthcare facilities in the Holy Sites, which are operated and co-managed by the private sector. This proactive step aims to ensure the provision of comprehensive and high-quality medical care for pilgrims, reflecting the wise leadership's commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment. These efforts are closely aligned with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program and the Pilgrim Service Program, both key pillars of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aim to enable pilgrims to perform their rituals in complete health and peace of mind.

Historically, medical services during Hajj began with small clinics and mobile first aid points, but today they have evolved into a complex and sophisticated network of medical cities and specialized hospitals that rival the best centers in the world. This historical development reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to serving Islam and Muslims, with medical crowd management becoming a distinctly Saudi specialty, its experiences studied in international forums. Continuous investment in medical infrastructure has made the Hajj season a global model for how to provide healthcare to millions of people within a limited geographical area and timeframe.
Expansion and development of health facilities in the holy sites
The Minister of Health's field tour included an inspection of Mina Emergency Hospital 2, which has undergone a significant expansion this year, doubling its capacity to 400 beds. The expansion included the construction of three floors and a vital annex, with a total building area of 18,000 square meters. Furthermore, field connectivity was enhanced by linking the hospital to Mina Emergency Hospital 1 via a dedicated bridge, ensuring the smooth flow and integration of services during peak times. His Excellency also visited Namirah General Hospital, which has 114 beds, including beds designated for intensive care, heatstroke, and heat exhaustion, as well as inspecting Namirah Pedestrian Hospital, which has a capacity of 50 beds. In a move reflecting the digital transformation, the Minister remotely checked the vital signs of a pilgrim using smartwatches at King Abdullah Medical City.
