Haramain High-Speed Railway: 80 daily trips to transport pilgrims to Medina

The Haramain High-Speed Railway is a cornerstone of the modern transportation system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, playing a vital role in facilitating the movement of pilgrims and visitors after performing Hajj and Umrah. With the conclusion of Hajj, operational efforts intensify to ensure the safe arrival of pilgrims to Madinah via continuous train services connecting the two holy cities and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, adhering to the highest international standards of efficiency and safety.
Intensive operational activity to serve pilgrims via the Haramain High-Speed Railway
The official spokesperson for Saudi Railways (SAR), Khalid Al-Farhan, confirmed that the train station in Madinah is experiencing extremely high operational activity as part of the Hajj season operational plan. He explained that the station receives and dispatches more than 80 train journeys daily, out of a total of over 142 journeys operated by the railway line. This increased activity aims to provide fast, comfortable, and safe transportation options for pilgrims, contributing to smoother traffic flow and facilitating their movement after completing their rituals.
Al-Farhan pointed out that the journey between Mecca and Medina takes only about two hours and 15 minutes, which saves time and effort for travelers and significantly improves the quality of services provided to them, especially with the Saudi Railways Company (SAR) providing more than 2.2 million seats during the Hajj season to meet the increasing demand.
A qualitative leap in the history of Hajj services and the Kingdom's Vision 2030
The high-speed rail project is a practical implementation of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to host more than 30 million pilgrims and visitors annually by the end of this decade. Historically, the journey between Mecca and Medina took many hours and required strenuous physical effort from pilgrims traveling by traditional land routes. With the launch of this massive project, spanning 450 kilometers, distances have been reduced and the hardship of travel has diminished, creating a true revolution in the concept of transportation to serve pilgrims and visitors from all corners of the globe.
Regional and international impact of the Saudi transport system
The impact of this pioneering project extends beyond the local level, setting a global benchmark for crowd management and sustainable infrastructure development. Providing this massive capacity reflects the Kingdom's exceptional efficiency in managing millions of visitors in record time and with the highest levels of safety. This development reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading global destination for integrated logistics services and underscores the wise leadership's commitment to harnessing all available technological and human resources to ensure the comfort of pilgrims and facilitate their spiritual journey.
