Their Right Initiative: Home Dental Treatment at Al-Muthnib Hospital

In a move reflecting the health sector’s commitment to enhancing quality of life and facilitating access to medical services, Al-Muthnib General Hospital in the Qassim region launched the “Their Right Upon Us” initiative, which aims to provide integrated dental treatment services to home healthcare beneficiaries in their places of residence.

The initiative was launched in the presence of the Governor of Al-Muthnib, Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, and with the participation of a number of health leaders and hospital staff. This step comes under the umbrella of the Qassim Health Cluster, which seeks to develop the primary and specialized care system outside the walls of hospitals.

Initiative objectives and implementation mechanism

The Qassim Health Cluster explained that the "It's Our Duty" initiative relies primarily on a mobile dental unit equipped with the latest medical technologies, enabling medical teams to conduct necessary examinations and treatments for patients whose health conditions prevent them from visiting traditional clinics. The initiative aims to:

  • To save the elderly and people with special needs the trouble of transportation.
  • Providing preventive and therapeutic dental services to reduce health complications.
  • Promoting oral health as an integral part of the overall health of beneficiaries.

The context of health transformation and Vision 2030

This initiative is fully aligned with the objectives of the Kingdom's healthcare transformation program and Saudi Vision 2030, which focuses on a modern healthcare model. This model is based on the principle of "prevention before treatment" and facilitating access to healthcare services. Home healthcare is a key pillar of this transformation, contributing to reducing pressure on hospital beds, minimizing the risk of healthcare-associated infections, and providing a comfortable treatment environment for patients among their families.

The importance of oral health care for bedridden patients

This type of initiative is of paramount importance given the significant challenges faced by families of bedridden or elderly patients in transporting them to dental clinics, which often requires complex logistical arrangements and specially equipped ambulances. Furthermore, neglecting oral and dental health in this group can lead to serious complications affecting nutrition and overall health, making access to dental care a fundamental solution to a chronic problem.

Effective community partnership

The launch included a demonstration of the mobile unit's operational mechanism, which was equipped and put into operation with the support and strategic partnership of the "Friends of Patients Committee in Buraidah." This collaboration highlights the role of the non-profit sector and community participation in supporting the healthcare system, something the Ministry of Health encourages to ensure the sustainability of services and their expansion to include all segments of society.

“Their Right Upon Us” is part of a series of quality initiatives launched by the Qassim Health Cluster, emphasizing its continued commitment to understanding the needs of patients and providing comprehensive and humane health care that meets the aspirations of beneficiaries in the governorate and the region as a whole.
