The Hadhramaut National Council praises Saudi Arabia's measures to preserve Yemen's security

The Hadhramaut National Council expressed its absolute support and high appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, leadership and government, in preserving the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen, praising the decisive measures recently taken by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy forces to prevent arms smuggling operations and attempts to militarize the liberated governorates outside the framework of the state.
Supporting legitimacy and implementing UN resolutions
In an official statement, the Council affirmed that the steps taken by the Kingdom and the interventions of the Arab Coalition are a practical manifestation of its sincere commitment to protecting Yemeni legitimacy and ensuring compliance with UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 , which prohibits the supply of weapons to armed groups outside the authority of the legitimate government. The Council indicated that the limited military operation targeting a shipment of weapons and armored vehicles in the port of Mukalla was an urgent security necessity to halt the flow of illegal arms that threatens civil peace in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.
Context of events and the strategic importance of Hadramawt
These developments are particularly significant given the geostrategic location of Hadramawt Governorate, which holds the greatest geographical and economic weight in Yemen. These measures come at a time of political and military tensions in the region, as the Hadramawt National Council, supported by broad segments of the governorate's population, seeks to spare the region the ravages of peripheral conflicts and uphold the principle of state institutions over militias.
The firm Saudi intervention is seen as a clear message to all parties that the security of the eastern governorates (Hadramawt and Al-Mahra) is a red line, and that the Kingdom will not allow these relatively safe areas to be turned into an arena for settling scores or a hub for smuggling weapons that may leak to terrorist groups or rebel militias, threatening regional and international security.
Adherence to international law and protection of civilians
In its statement, the Council commended the high level of professionalism demonstrated by the Coalition leadership and its strict adherence to the rules of international humanitarian law during the operation, which neutralized the threat without harming civilians or damaging vital port facilities. The Council considered this conduct a reflection of the Coalition's responsibility towards the Yemeni people and their resources.
A unified stance behind the Presidential Leadership Council
The Hadramawt National Council concluded its statement by renewing its pledge to stand united behind the legitimate authority, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the local authority in the governorate. It called upon all Yemeni factions to prioritize the supreme national interest, support Saudi efforts aimed at establishing comprehensive peace, and empower the people of Hadramawt to manage their own affairs and resources within the framework of a federal Yemeni state, free from the language of weapons and the imposition of a fait accompli.
