Official statistics reveal a remarkable upward trajectory for the award, with cumulative submissions exceeding 600 from academic and research institutions and startups. This growth began with 85 entities in the inaugural edition in 2023, jumping to 199 in 2024, and peaking in the 2025 edition with 316 participants.
Perhaps the most telling indicator of its global reach is the phenomenal increase in applications submitted for the third edition (2025), with over 2,570 applications received from 119 countries , compared to 540 applications from 56 countries the previous year – representing a growth rate exceeding 400% in just one year. This surge in interest reflects the growing international confidence in the Saudi ecosystem as a hub for innovation.
Strict selection criteria and elite competition
Despite its quantitative expansion, the award has maintained rigorous quality standards. A meticulous screening process has resulted in the selection of only 36 innovative projects from 22 countries to reach the final stage, the results of which will be announced next Monday, December 8, in Jeddah.
