Global harmony: Sudanese culture shines in Riyadh Season 2024

In an atmosphere steeped in authenticity and history, the Global Harmony Initiative , organized by the Ministry of Media in partnership with the General Entertainment Authority and the Quality of Life Program, continued its distinctive activities in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, this time highlighting Sudanese culture Al-Suwaidi Park witnessed a remarkable influx of visitors from various nationalities, all eager to enjoy a rich cultural experience that reflects the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Sudanese people.
A window into the heritage and civilization of the Nile Valley
This event comes within the framework of strengthening cultural and human ties, as the Sudanese community is one of the oldest and largest expatriate communities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Celebrating their heritage is an integral part of the "Quality of Life" objectives aimed at fostering coexistence and social harmony. The event successfully transformed Al-Suwaidi Park into an open-air stage showcasing the diversity of Sudanese environments, from the north to the south of the valley, and from the east to the west, through a live demonstration of traditional lifestyles.
Traditional Sudanese clothing captivated visitors with its vibrant colors and unique designs, such as the distinctive women's "thobe" and the comfortable men's "jalabiya," both adorned with intricate hand embroidery that reflects the skill of Sudanese artisans. The pavilions didn't just offer silent displays; they also provided interactive explanations of the meanings behind the colors and patterns, which vary across different tribes and geographical regions of Sudan.
The rhythms of the pentatonic scale delight the visitors
On the artistic front, the park resonated with the distinctive Sudanese rhythms known as the "pentatonic scale," as artistic groups presented live folkloric performances and festive processions that wound through the park's pathways. The audience enthusiastically responded to the traditional and popular songs performed by a selection of Sudanese artists, which blended melodious longing with lively dance, creating an atmosphere of joy and delight for families and visitors alike.
