Ethiopian Cultural Days kick off in Riyadh as part of a global initiative

The Saudi Ministry of Media launched the "Ethiopian Cultural Days" events today as part of the second edition of the "Global Harmony" initiative, at Al-Suwaidi Park, one of the most prominent venues of Riyadh Season. This event, organized jointly with the General Entertainment Authority, drew a significant audience of visitors and residents from various nationalities, celebrating cultural diversity and fostering intercultural understanding.

Promoting coexistence through the Global Harmony Initiative

These events are particularly significant as they fall under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve quality of life and foster a vibrant and diverse society. The "Global Harmony" initiative seeks to highlight the lives of residents in the Kingdom, showcasing the social harmony and cultural integration between them and Saudi society. The festivities kicked off at 4:00 PM, transforming the grounds of Al-Suwaidi Park into a vibrant carnival of colors and melodies. Ethiopian artistic troupes presented dazzling performances featuring traditional folk dances that reflect the ethnic and geographical diversity of Ethiopia, accompanied by traditional musical instruments and drums that ignited the enthusiasm of the audience. This artistic exchange reflects the deep historical and cultural ties between the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

A complete cultural experience: from coffee to fashion

The event wasn't limited to dance performances; it also included an immersive cultural experience. Visitors enjoyed witnessing the ritual of preparing the famous Ethiopian coffee (jebena), an integral part of Ethiopian social identity and a symbol of generosity and hospitality. The Ethiopian Cultural Days are scheduled to continue for three days, with a packed program that includes more musical performances, heritage displays, and interactive exhibits that offer visitors the opportunity to explore Ethiopia's rich history and cultural development firsthand.
