Dammam International City: A promising entertainment and cultural destination
The Eastern Province is preparing to launch one of its largest tourism and entertainment projects: the “Global City” project in Dammam, which will create a new destination combining entertainment, culture, and investment. Located near the Dammam Corniche and Saihat Lake, this strategic project represents a significant leap forward for Saudi Arabia's tourism landscape, aiming to transform the region into a major attraction for visitors from within the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Project details and its unique components
The project spans a vast area of 250,000 square meters and is nearing completion of its first phase. The city's design revolves around a central artificial lake, intended to be a hub for diverse marine events and activities. A highlight of the project is the massive theater, which currently seats 7,000 people, with plans to expand its capacity to 10,000, making it an ideal venue for hosting major concerts and live performances.
The facilities are not limited to that, but the project includes a floating market that adds a charming character to shopping, an open theater, a modern amusement park that meets the aspirations of families, in addition to a series of distinctive restaurants and cafes and dedicated pedestrian tracks that promote a healthy lifestyle.
Meeting place of civilizations and cultures
The Global City project is characterized by its cosmopolitan nature, bringing together the cultures of different peoples in one place. Fifteen international pavilions, representing countries from the Arabian Gulf, Europe, Asia, and Africa, have been completed. These pavilions are designed to reflect the architectural style of each country and showcase its traditional cuisine and handicrafts, offering visitors a complete cultural travel experience without leaving Dammam.
Context of Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program
This project is perfectly aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program, which aims to improve the lifestyle of individuals and families and build a society where its members enjoy a balanced way of life. The Kingdom is actively working to diversify its sources of income through the tourism and entertainment sectors, and the Eastern Province, with its strategic geographic location overlooking the Arabian Gulf, is a key pillar of this national strategy.
Expected economic and tourism impact
His Excellency the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Engineer Fahd Al-Jubair, affirmed that the project reflects the significant investment activity the region is witnessing, supported by His Royal Highness the Prince of the Eastern Province and His Royal Highness the Deputy Prince. The project is expected to create hundreds of job opportunities for young men and women, in addition to stimulating economic activity in the hospitality, retail, and transportation sectors. Furthermore, the project will enhance Dammam's position as a comprehensive tourist destination throughout the year, not just during peak seasons and holidays, thus supporting the local economy and attracting foreign and domestic capital for investment in the entertainment sector.
